The establishment of Geo-Agro is connected with the creation and development of the pig farming complex by Shalva Jakhutashvili. It was this company that founded "Kalanda" in 2009, which ensured the construction, operation and development of the pig farming complex in Koda village of Tetritskaro municipality.
Geo-Agro owned plots of land and agricultural equipment purchased from the state. The company's goal was to produce fodder for a pig farm on these lands with its own equipment and supply it to the complex. At the same time, the management of the company considered cooperation with farms and their services.
Implementation of the project
At that time, Geo-Agro owned up to 3500 hectares of land in Kakheti, Zilicha zone of Dedoplistskaro municipality and 450 hectares of agricultural land in Sighnaghi municipality. The company grew grain crops - wheat, barley and sunflowers on these plots, whose agrotechnical, primary processing and storage was carried out on its own agricultural type base. The base was located in Tsnori township of Sighnaghi municipality. A full set of mechanization and storage farms were located on the site.
Geo-Agro owned world-leading brands of equipment: including 5 harvesters, 3 tractors (2 Claas - 350 HP, 1 Hew Holland - 400 HP) and 2 Belarus (150 HP) type tractors. Also, the base was equipped with Kuhn heavy-duty and Amazon heavy-duty disc harrows, Amazon pneumatic seeders and other mechanized implements.
Crisis management
The depopulation caused by a viral disease in the pig farm also caused losses to Geo-Agro. Due to the obligations to the company, the continuation of the activity was no longer considered in the future plans, and therefore, the existing plots of land and equipment were gradually sold.
