Geo-Agro was established by Shalva Jakhutashvili with the goal of creating and developing a modern pig farming complex. In 2009, the company founded "Kalanda", which led the construction, operation, and growth of a pig farming facility in the village of Koda, located in the Tetritskaro municipality.
Geo-Agro owned agricultural land and farming equipment acquired from the state. The company’s vision was to use its own machinery to cultivate crops on these lands and produce feed for the livestock, ensuring a fully integrated supply chain for the farm. In parallel, the company’s management also aimed to collaborate with local farmers, offering them services and support to mutual growth.
Project Implementation
At the time, Geo-Agro owned up to 3,500 hectares of agricultural land in Kakheti, including areas in the Zilicha zone of Dedoplistskaro Municipality and approximately 450 hectares in Sighnaghi Municipality. that period, Geo-Agro cultivated cereal crops—wheat, barley, and sunflower—on its land holdings. The agronomic practices, primary processing, and storage of these crops were conducted at the company's agricultural base located in Tsnori, Sighnaghi Municipality. The base was equipped with a full set of mechanization and warehousing facilities, ensuring efficient handling and storage of the harvested grains.
Geo-Agro boasted a fleet of world-renowned agricultural machinery brands: including 5 combine harvesters, 3 tractors (2 Claas - 350 HP, 1 Hew Holland - 400 HP) and 2 Belarus (150 HP) tractors. The base was also equipped with Kuhn super-heavy and Amazon heavy disc harrows, Amazon pneumatic seed drills and other mechanization implements.
Crisis Management
A viral outbreak on our poultry farm led to significant depopulation, resulting in financial losses for Geo-Agro. Due to the company’s emerging liabilities, continuing operations was no longer viable within our future plans. As a result, we have gradually begun the process of selling existing land plots and equipment.
